The research and development of WPC in China started in 1990s, more than 10 years later than that of foreign WPC.Since the late 1990s, with the United States taking the lead in restricting wood packaging from China, China has entered a period of rapid development in the research and development of wood-plastic materials and their technological transformation.By the beginning of this century, the prototype of China's wood-plastic industry was gradually formed.

Wood plastic composite is a kind of wide coverage, product variety and diversity of morphological structure of basic material, upon it fully embodies the circular economy, resource utilization, health, environmental protection and saving alternative in the advanced concept of sustainable development of economy, the majority of products because it has the comprehensive utilization of resources as well as the resulting function of protecting the environment, so in recent years gradually aroused the attention of the society.At present, the concept of "circular economy" and "building a conservation-oriented society" proposed by the Chinese government has given a strong impetus to the development of China's wood-plastic industry. 

With the advantages of wood-plastic materials are gradually discovered, this research work was included in 2002 High-tech Development Report of Chinese Academy of Sciences.In 2003, the National Development and Reform Commission included WPC in the "National High-tech Industrialization New Material Special Project";In June 2005, The State Council issued the Notice on The Key Work of Building an Economical Society in the near future, which put forward a series of specific guiding opinions on improving the preferential tax policies for comprehensive utilization of resources and recycling of waste materials.Taking advantage of the country's new economic policy, a nationwide "wood-plastic heat" is emerging.According to incomplete statistics, by the end of 2007, there were more than 160 enterprises and institutions directly engaged in the research, development and production of wood-plastic composite materials, with more than 100,000 employees. Their production capacity has been greatly improved, with the annual output of wood-plastic products approaching 150,000 tons and the annual output value reaching 2 billion yuan.According to the guidance of national economic policy, WPC and its products will become the important new material project in the next few years. 

As a multi-directional, large-span, specialized and marginal emerging industry, wood-plastic industry has its equipment, technology and process involved in machinery, fine chemical industry, hydraulic transmission, vacuum technology, thermal conduction, fluid mechanics, sensing technology, electronic automation and computer programming, etc.At present, Qingdao Far East Co., Ltd. is the main technical representative in the industry, and its test samples have approached or reached the international advanced level. Many enterprises in south China have also gradually highlighted the characteristics of their products.In addition, a few large domestic enterprises long-term tracking wood plastic industry development process, ready to enter the wood plastic industry.It is reported that foreign dupont, Mitsubishi and other powerful groups are also paying close attention to the dynamics of China's wood-plastic industry. 

At present, domestic research and development of wood-plastic materials have structure class, decorative class, packaging class and special type class, including wire, profile, plate and different profiles and other series, its scope of application can almost cover all logs, plastic, plastic steel, aluminum alloy and other similar composite materials now the use of fields.Already involved in the wood-plastics material applications include: dado, window, door, floor, nest, partition, ceiling, fence, fences, side pier, bathroom, door cover, half-way house, garage, deck, furniture accessories, water channel, the outdoor seats, stair step, platform, container flooring, stadium seats, light rail sound barriers, multi-function wall partition, highway sound barriers, etc., and began to penetrate into construction, decoration, logistics, packaging, gardens, municipal, environmental protection and other industries, annual gross domestic product is increased year by year, the market prospect is very broad.Considering all aspects, we believe that China's wood-plastic composite industry has reached the critical point of a new round of development. 

Wood plastic can also become the new bright spot of circular economy.With the increase of people's attention to environmental resources, recycling economic development model with waste material recycling and comprehensive utilization as the core has become the trend of world economic development.The development of resource recycling technology will have a far-reaching impact on the development of national economy and the sustainable development of environment.Using waste plastic and wood fiber to produce WPC products is a good project to meet this requirement.In China, various waste plastics and wood fiber waste produced every year is considerable. 

However, because the domestic market is still in the initial stage, WPC products have not been widely promoted in the domestic market.Compared with the North American market, the growth of wood-plastic composites and finished products in The Chinese market still has a considerable space. It is expected that the output of the domestic wood-plastic composites market in recent years will exceed one million tons, with an output value of more than 1 billion yuan, and a new wood-plastic composites system will be formed.
